Default 1986 SVO Rear End, 7.5 or 8.8?

Is it a 7.5 or an 8.8? How do I find out.

Only '86+ V8 Mustangs and Capris got the 8.8". The SVO had the 7.5".

Is it a good idea to put a SVO 7.5 into an 88 for the better brakes and the 3.73 gears, do you know if the longer axle lentgh will cause problems w/ 96 Cobra Rims.

An "88" what? What engine (2.3? V6? 302? 351? 460?), are there any power adders, and how much total power is being produced? What is the application (i.e. daily driving, racing, etc.)?

Well, it isn't as strong as an 8.8", and the wheels will stick out 3/4" farther on each side. Measure and see...

Remember, the swap will require an sdjustable proprotioning valve, modified brake lines, modified parking brake, and should have a bigger naster cylinder installed as well.

The link you gave me with the 3-2 setup was very helpful, I decided to go with a 94 GT Master Cylinder and am awaiting the 3-2 kit and still need to go buy the motorsport plug, I decided that since I'll be making well over 400 HP upon completion I decided to pick up an 8.8 with the 3.73's and an Auburn Spool, I just can't put a 4 cylinder Rear End in my Stang, I will be using the axles and brakes though, about the wheel clearance, since I'll have the pumpkin open I was thinking of upgrading to some stronger 28 spline axles, but what size should I order, some people say I'll match the track width up front with the SVO axles, I just wonder if it'll rub and how it will look, because when I had my 93 Cobra the car was once stolen, they took the rims and left me sitting on 16" Pony's, they stuck out way to far, I don't want to have the same problem with this car, I eventually found a set of 93 Cobras to replace them.

Good choice! I went with the 93 cobra M/C myself. The svo setup will space the wheels out 3/4" per side. I would definitely go with the bigger axles, 5 lug of course. IF my car was not lowered, I wouldn't mind the additional width in the rear, for the factory wheels. But, since it is lowered, the extra width would put the sidewall right into the fender lip. I went with the North Cobras rear disc brackets and the 2004 cobra rear discs and calipers, so Im not too sure on what you will need to complete your setup...but if you have any questions feel free to pm me, and I'll try to help.
