Default Car runs fine when cool, but dies when it warms up?

i have a 302 motor in a 90' mustang gt with no real eng mods to speak of. when the car gets hot it will sputter and die. when the car cools off it runs with no problem i was talking with a buddy of mine said that he had the same problem he changed everything fuel pump filter ign. ctrl mod but found that the problem did not go away until he replaced the distributor...
1. is there a way to check the distributor without replacing it?
2. what else could it be?
3. has this happened to anyone else?

replace that gray module on the side of the distributor, it has two screws that hold it on. when it gets hot it will shut the motor right down and when it cools it will start again.

Most part stores will test them free of charge. I would guess that it's your ignition module first.

I have an '88 GT that does the same thing. I had to replace the ignition module on mine not to long after I got it because of that. Eventually your car will die and it just won't start. I was told by a mechanic that whenever you change the ignition module, there is a spring in the distibutor you have to replace with it. My car would occasionally shut down after replacing the module so you might want to ask about that spring when you get your ignition module.
