Default Radio Wiring Help

I just bought a new head unit to replace my stock stereo, but don't know where to find the wiring harness diagram for the stock unit to know which wires to attatch to the new ones. Can someone tell me the wiring or give me a web address to a wiring diagram so I can figure it out? If so, that would be great.

You can go to walmart or an electronic store and buy the plugs that hook up to your new radio. Then just plug into the factory harness. You can also buy a mounting kit with the wiring in the kit.I think it is like $15.00 at walmart.

I used the adapter from circuit city (Walmart had one too) but I had to wire it differently from the directions. The wiring harness in the car (90 GT vert) did not match the new one (although it was supposed to) and I had a ground problem with the speakers. Bottom line was that the colors of the wires did not match directly like they were supposed to, I had to change some around on the new harness to get it all to work. I have which is which at home, I can post it later tonight.

Thanks yall, but I'm just looking for a diagram of which wires control what and I'll just connect them to the connecting harness that came in the kit with the new radio.

Yes, I too posted a response to this question in a different forum...posted by the same guy. We all gave the same advise, but apparently he is emphatic at getting a different response.

Anyone know how to answer his question with out giving him a better alternative solution? We've failed so far.

He wants a wiring diagram, not a better idea on how to install his radio.

FlamingMustang, please. You are confusing us. We see your post, and give advise. Then we thumb over to another forum and see your post there too.

We wanna help, but two posts for one subject does not help us help you.

We think you are asking for an awful lotta unnecessary work in this project you've outlined. There is a simpler way to go, and we are attempting to offer our advice based on experience.

He can go buy a Chilton or Haynes manual and get the wiring diagrams in the book. The Plugs are about the same price as the manual's.

Smile Mustang Radio Wire & Color Code information, and much more information

I was searching the "net" to find information on the wiring harness/diagram for my Mustang (94). I came across your website, was reading some “POSTS”. There was a lot of information, but not what I was in need of so badly.

My mustang (when I pulled/took everything apart, to install my new radio) I found ALL of the wiring for the radio, amp, etc. had been "CUT / MUTILATED". It came without a radio. I had absolutely no idea which wires went to what. It was a complete mess in there (the wiring behind the console).

I finally found a site that explained everything / illustrated for me (with SO MUCH information on installing radios, including wiring “color codes”) for what I needed for my Mustang. The best part is they have detailed instructions, WITH PICTURES / ILLUSTRATIONS for each of the steps. The pictures alone helped me tremendously, so that I could figure out which wires belonged to what.

I thought this website might help some people in "figuring out" the wiring for ANY radio installs on just about EVERY vehicle. It offers much more information. It’s a site worth browsing through. That a way in the future if you know someone who does need additional help, like I did, it would save them a great deal of time searching themselves.

THE WEB ADDRESS IS www.installdr.com

The exact web page I used for MY MUSTANG is http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/FLM/PDF/356045.pdf

You can look at the “PAGE / DOCUMENT” that I used, to let you know some of what this site has to offer.

No, I do not have any affiliation with this site or anyone with it. I was just SOOOO THRILLED to find it FINALLY that I WANTED TO SHARE IT WITH YOU ALL.

Well, I really hope this helps some people in the future save a bunch of time searching.

Take care, Susan
