Default What can happen if I dont replace my throwout bearing soon ??

I just bought a 91 5.0 and it seems that the throwout bearing is going out because I can hear a tapping noise and it only goes away when I push the clutch in. How long can i drive it like this? What could happen in the long run if I dont replace it ???

They can fail FAST, if it breaks pieces can get between clutch and flywheel....so you risk higher repair bills..

And more importantly...when it goes ...no clutch to drive the car

just like gtraptor said, it can do some serious damage..........sounds like you will also need to replace the throw out bearing retainer too.......spend the money and upgrade to that steel retaining shaft............just my .02
