Default Front End Alignment

I have a 94 GT that I just got the front end aligned on. The car still pulls to the right after the alignment and the shop told me that they did the best they could. The Caster on the right side is not in the recommended range and they said that was the problem. They told me that if I were to replace the springs up front then that would solve the problem and they could align the wheels back to the proper range. My question is, is this true. Would replacing the springs allow them to bring back the proper alignment? If so, about how much would it cost to replace the front springs?

Thanks,

Rick

Sounds "fishy" to me was the car ever in a accident? did you put lowering springs on it? did they try roating the tires?

changing springs wont solve a thing, the problem could be worn tie rods, ball joints, inner tie rods and even a bad frame.

I suggest you look for play in the steering and front end components.

I had my inner tie rods replaced for play and also alignment problems, that solved it.

yea if your car is stock then camber and caster are not adjustable . does your car lean? if not then there is no need to replace the springs. yea tie rod ends may cause a pull and so can tires if they are mismatched, either different brands, or sizes. or even low tire pressure can cause a pull. often times the alignment shop will not compensate for road crown when they do the alignment. but like others said if the car has been in an accident then the frame may be bent causing the off caster measurement. probably a set of caster and camber plates will solve your problem if the aforementioned things do not.

tires can cause a pull, even if the alignment is money shot. If caster was off on one side, it would turn in one direction easier than the other, but I don't think it would cause a pull. Rotate your front tires from side to side and see if it pulls the other direction. If it still pulls right, take it back to the alignment shop and demand your money back or a fix to your problem.

I've had people try to say "you need x y z part cause they are messed up, we can fix it for $$$." I tell them I just replaced the entire steering (power steering rack, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and I have adjustable caster camber plates." They stop for a minute and think then say they will look at it again. They call me back and say it's ready. Some people.....

Sounds like a big steaming pile of BS.....My car has lowering springs on it. My camber was off on the front causing it not to line up right...I installed some new camber plates and it straigtened every thing out...Cheap too...Less than 300 bucks..

The shop should have given you a spec sheet of the alignment they did. Can you post the numbers, the angles, they found? Include the secondary angles, they tell you if something is bent.

i say tell them to go screw themselfs go to a new shop and then take the bill of the new shop back to the first shop and say pay it u screwed up... but this only works if u paid anything also the second shop has to find something different than the first, i would go in there telling them you have alreity talked to local police and they say that it's fraud or something, even if u haven't, call the better buisness beareu tell them if u don't get anywhere, this is the pissed off route, u may want to work something out with that shop, some people just piss me off so i take that route, it works to get free stuff though

I agree with JUSTLNX.....They should be able to tell you how many degrees the camber is off or if something is bent....
