Unhappy 5.0 bottom end drag

I am helping a friend build the bottom of his 5.0,he bought a crank kit (.010--.010)which came with the bearing, which all match, and we are using ARP main bolts.when we torqued all the caps down and spin the crank by hand it a very slight drag in one spot, but when we loosen the #3 cap which has the thrust bearing it disappears I have checked the bearings and crank,no imperfections. What could cause this ,is this common.also there is no endplay

ARP bolts torqued to 65 ft-lbs

no end play whatsoever? if not i would say you probibly didn't read the part numbers right, and are using the wrong bearing somewhere or something similar to that

If there is one thing I am sure of,it is that I read the numbers right.I have 10 years of parts experience,no questions about the numbers

ok, no i didn't mean like due to in experience or anything like that, it sounds like something for sure is out of round if there is drag when u turn the crank to the 1 o clock position but no drag anywhere else, if it was everywhere, that would just mean the bearings are really tight, run a 5-20 oil for the first oil change? might help, it will get oil into that bearing, and once the first oil change is done the engine should pretty well be broken in... and that drag will have been taken care of, just my thoughts,

the end play, not too sure, there should be a cupple hundredth play, the fact that there is drag and no play, i was thinking that there is a wrong bearing in, and it's a little bit wider (accross the run) and a little bit smaller inside diameter, but if u say thoes are all right, unless, did you have any machine work done on the engine? could have been machined a little bit wrong, it might need a line bore, and/or the crank might be slightly warped, but if these are all brand new parts i am out of ideas

and incase you think i am a moron and giving you bad advice, you say u have been working on cars for the past 10 years or so, i have been for the past like 13 or so, (since i was 5 ish) but not really knowing what i have been doing till i hit about 15-16 years old, grade 10 was the age i learned what i was doing and i graduated in the summer of 04, just so u know, i am not a mechanic or anything like that, i can just visualize in my head how an engine works, i can tell what would work and what wouldn't in theory....
