Default Want to add 140mphwhite face gauges to an 88' but my speedo is 85mph ?

Hello everyone. I have owned a mustang for about 3 years now and love it. I have made some little mods being that i don't have a lot of money right now. My question is, is that i want to change gauges to the white face gauges, but i have the 85-mph dashboard. Now i was wondering, is there anyway i can put the 140-mph white face gauges in there or do i have to buy a cluster that already has the 140-mph gauges. Any input is appreciated. Thanks

i think ford motorsport sells the gauge that reads 140 mph accurately. alot of those white face gauges are just overlays, and if you dont care about the speedo being off, then i guess you can just put a white face kit for a 93 mustang on there, and then when you are going 85 the speedo will read 140 lol

few options here...
First, you have to get a new speedo if you want the 140 mph speedo
options are 5.0 Resto (sells one white faced and 140 mph that will be the right speedo for your year)
eBay...buy a stock 140 mph gauge cluster from an 89. Only 89 will work, do not buy a 90,91,92,93, then buy white faced overlays or new faces...
third is motorsport, you can buy one from them, but IMO they are ugly, they do not look like the stock gauge.

Good Luck

Stangboy5666 took the words right out of my mouth.

You need a speedometer cluster from an 89. I've heard using other years is doable but it involves rewiring, which in my opinion does not justify the cost of getting a more common 140 mph speedometer cluster cheaper.

They do sell white face gauges for 85 mph speedometers. Like this. Be careful with the shipping charges.

When I went hatchback shopping, I found what was advertised as an 88 GT hatchback. I had an 88 convertible , so it was still 85mph speedo and non mass air. When I got there it was actually an 89, so I got the 140 mph speedo and mass air flow. That was a good day.
