Default Are the rear dampers on the fox gt(MY 90 GT) rear suspension neccessary

Hey fellow mustang enthusiast's I'm having a problem and I need some adivce. I have 17 x 9 rear cobra wheels on my 1990 GT and they tend to rub on the rear suspenion dampers when cornering.(Burning rubber smell) plus its very noticeable where its rubbing) I was wondering what the best solution would be for a quick fix. Do the dampers have to be on? Would it be best to just take them off or just relocate? Any help or considerations would be greatly appreiciated.

Dampers reduce Wheel hop on launch, so if you dont launch your stang hard wont be a problem.

A permanent fix is installing aftermarket rear lower control arms (LCAs)

So get the aftermarket lower control arms and I can delete the dampers?

You can lose them now to stop any more damage to your tires. You will get some serious wheel hop if you try doing any burn outs, just refrain from doing so until you get some new after market LCA's.

One thing you can also try is to flip the dampers backwards. Sometimes this will get you enough clearence to not rub.

Actually I think you can turn the quad shocks backwards and gain some tire clearance.
