Default How long do tie rods last / Are urethane bushings available?

Does anyone know how many miles the stock tie rod ends are good for? I have around 120,000 on the clock now. I am replacing the steering rack soon and was wondering about tie rod end replacement. Do they make urethane bushings for the tie rod ends also?

Tie rods last probably 80-100k with good roads.
I have replaced mine TWICE but Mexico City streets are crap.

I think it is a good time to replace them.

Tie rods use spherical joints, some will be greasable some not.
Buy greasable tie-rods with urethane "GREASE CAPS", or if lowered try some Bumpsteer tie rod ends from STEEDA.

when in doubt, replace it. They take like a half hour to install, wont be hard at all. I just got mine from autozone, but im not worried about handling or anything so mabey you should look at better bushings and stuff. my 2 cents

Should I put some bumpsteer tie rods if I was planning on lowering even though it is at stock height now?

Autozone and the like dont have the correct tierod ends for 91 - 93, there part number just list 70 - 93 and they are slightly different, get OEMs or Steeda.

You need to get it aligned aftewards. I would replace all 4 at the same time to avoid having to pay for a costly alignment. Count the # of threads before removing the old one and get your new one as close as possible to get you to the alignment shop.

HUH? LOL

Actually I'm going to be doing the same here shortly, but I was considering just doing the inners, since the outters seem to be in good shape, and all the slop is coming from under the dust boot. If I did just the inners, what is the costly possibility you were refering to? $50 is $50, but if theres some other possibilitly that I dont know about, I might just go ahead snd splurge.<G>

If you replace the inner and outer you are covered. I was suggesting doing all 4 incase you replace 2 , get it aligned, and needed to do the other 2 tie rods, so you'd be paying for two alignments .
