Default Power Door Lock Problem

87 Stang, I am having problems with the driver side power door lock. I know the switch works because i've tested it. However, when I try and lock the doors from the drivers side using the switch, they won't lock. The passenger side switch works great and both doors lock with no problems. Any else have this problem. I am guessing it's in the wiring somewhere. I did'nt want to go tearing the door panel off without some advice first...help!

More than lokely it is the actuator...(the part in the door that lifts the locking rod up and down)..controlled by the door switch....You need to take your door panel off and unplug it or replace it...I replaced both of mine...It is mounted to narrow side of the open part of the door..It is about 6inches tall and has a small rubber boot on the top of it.....www.50resto.com has a great replacement kit for it..

if the doors open and close from the pass side switch its not an actuator problem.the problem is most likely in the driver side switch.remove the plug from the switch and bypass the switch.if the doors lock and unlock its the switch.i do not think you have a electrical issue since the locks work from the pass side.

STINGREY is right, your problem appears to be in your drives side switch. Not sure how much that'll run you to replace but it shouldn't be that much. I'm going to have to replace the actuator on the drive side, it stopped working at the end of last year. I opened up the panel to have a quick look and realized the actuator for some reason is seized and won't work from either switch.

It's the switch like Stingrey stated.
