Default new engine change question

i bought a new engine for my 89 mustang gt. it is a 302 and it came with the entire engine up to the heads. my question is, it didnt come with the harmonic balancer or underdrive pully. the problem with the origional engine was massive vibration in engine while idle and worse when driving but better when at higher speeds. and i was buring up serpentine belts as well. i was told the balancer is shot and also the main bearing was going as well. i have had many problems with this engine so i went and bought a remanufactured engine. is there anything i need to know about the balancer before i go and buy a new one and put it on? any tricks, problem areas i may not know about? this is my first engine change, the most i did with the old 302 was change the head gaskets. so i was told i should be able to do the engine swap no problem since it is mainly swapping accessories correct? i hope im not getting in over my head. what is the best book to buy to go along with for the engine change? i have a hayes but is that enough? any info would be great. thanks.

Be sure to get a balancer that is correct for your engine application. '82 and
later use the 50 ounce imbalance, whereas the older ones use 28 ounce.
The flywheel must be spec'ed accordingly also.
So if your new motor was spec'ed for your '89 GT, then your old parts will
work. Although I'd replace that old balancer. You could probably get a
decent aftermarket one for not much more $ than OEM.
