What kind of noise is it? does it only do it at certain intervals? Also, whut year 5.0 do you have? To determine the problem, we would need more info on your situation.
Depending on whut vehicle, it could be from tie-rods to wheel bearings, and anywhere in between.

the noise seems to come from brakes. it is a rattle type noise when going over bumpy road or speed bumps. If I hit the brake the noise goes away.

Ok from the brakes it could still be a few probs... have you changed the pads recently? Sometimes some aftermarket pads dont fit in Ford Calipers well and either rub or wiggle. also rotors could be warped and need to be turned or replaced. If it stops when you hit the brakes, Im assuming that it is a part in direct conjunction with the calipers... Also, are you aware of the last time the bearings were replaced...

on my 90 gt I heard the same noise and when I took my brakes off I found out it was the adjuster spring inside the pad. It had exploded and was ratteling everytime I hit a bump.

I just had a similar situation in my 87 GT. Did you just change out the struts too? if it may be the same problem I had. I have to shim the struts. They were knocking anytime i hit a bump.

Do your calipers have the two holes where the pads snap into the caliper or do they have mounting ears on the pads?

I have the same noise (sounds like a can of ball bearings) and since my ABS warning light comes on intermittently, I'm wondering if it could be the ABS sensors. Brakes work perfectly and the pads aren't loose.
