Default E-brake light in dash comes on for no reason sometimes?

Lately my brake lamp comes on for no reason. It might flash on and off, then it may come on and stay on for awhile and go off again. Anyone know what this could mean? Im thinking maybe it means my back brakes are about history but i dont know. Any suggestions?

When you say brake lamp, I take it you mean the red E-brake light on your dash? I had that problem in my 89, and it was the switch by the ebrake handle. Take off the console surounding the ebrake handle, and there is a springloaded pin there that gets pushed by the handle. Mine would go off when accellerating for no reason, and I just rotated the spring

you dont have to have any leaks, when your pads wear out then it takes more fluid to push them together so your brakes probobly need to be replaced, so now the fluid you added will be all over the garage floor because you have to take the brake resevior cap off to push the caliper pistons open.
