my check engine light keeps comming on intermittantly. sometimes its on when i start the car then goes out then on and off sporatically. sometimes its not on when i start the car but goes on and off every few seconds. i have my smog pump removed, a/c removed, stock exhaust. could it be the O2 sensors? the other thing is, there is a connector hanging free disconnected in the engine bay. it looks axactly like the connector that is connected to the fuel rail. it comes off the same wire harness run and it goes to a Y split. on one end of the Y is connected to the fuel rail, the other is hanging free. what is that?

Something is definitly wrong.You need your codes deleted
from the module.You should go to your local Ford Dealership
and have them check your car out.

definately check your codes,but it sounds like you have a bad 02 sensor.

You can also go to Autozone and they will pull your codes for free.

Mine does the same thing and I have a code scanner. Needless to say it is the same codes all the time. BAD EGR and 02's as well. It is putting my car into FULL RICH mode. Which is good because I do not run lean. But bad on the wallet for gas mileage.


Have your codes read. A new EGR is $90 from ford. 02 sensors are around $60 a piece I believe.

I don't know what year you have, but if you have a 87-93 (and probably on all foxes) near the vacuum tree on the driver side there are a few connectors, and you will see one hanging with nothing attached. Stick a wire in there and ground it to the engine or chassis, then just turn the key to on, and you can pull your codes.

Get your codes, then unplug the battery for a bit, delete the memory, then put it back and see what new codes you get after driving.
