Default Headers and Exhaust Question

i bought shorty headers for my 89 gt equal length. i tried installing them with the stock exhaust and they would not fit. i put them on the engine first then i tried to lift the exhaust up to attach it and i noticed the tube would not reach the headers due to the frame of the car in the way. so i took the header off the engine and attached it to the eaxhaust first then tried to lift it to the engine and the angle is off. it was rotated about 25 degrees clockwise and would not line up to the heads. now i bought the MAC H-Pipe and Mac Cat Back exhaust system and i am awiating them to arrive hoping this will fix the problem and the new headers will fit. is this correct? rightnow the exhaust that is on the car is without H-pipe or X-pipe and the exhaust goes straight back and only make it to the rear axle and turn down and thats it. the new system i bought goes up and over the axle and then has the 3" chrome tips on it. the system i have goes under the rear axle and not past it. any sugguestions on if im on the right track?

Did you loosen up the exhaust you had on the car. I.e pretty much take everything off and let hang there. I had to do that to mine. And yet, I still have full exhaust. Others I know that put headers on with stock exhaust had to drop the mid pipe, and catback and still work it in like I did as well.

well it seams you get what you paid for. i tried to put the new headers on the new MAC Cat Backs and they still dont fit. they seam to be angled aft more than they are angled down. oh well i have to go with the stock headers for now until i can come up with the cash for new headers that fit.
