anyone thinking of buying a MAC H-Pipe and Cat Back exhaust read this
I just installed the MAC H-pipe with the MAC Cat Back exhaust system on my 89 GT and believe me, it was the easiest system to install by yourself. the horsepewer gaines are incredible. i origionally had flowmasters without H-pipe and i had a bad vibration in the car at around 70-85 MPH, now with the new exhaust it is outstanding. no vibrations anymore. the car runs completely smooth. i love this system it is the best i bought so far for the Stang. Ans as for the sound, i cant ask for anything better. i now feel a lot better driving around town, now i have the sound that turns heads. before it was just loud and i felt i was losing power. well now i know why. this new exhaust i have to learn to drive the car again. i already spun out going up an on-ramp to the highway and ended doing a 180 unintentionaly. man was that fun. anyway, i highly recommend the MAC exhaust system.

im thinking about getting the Mac cat-back so your feedback helps! What were you running before the H-pipe? Was it the stock pipe w/cats? I have a used X-pipe I wanna throw on there along with the cat-back. I have a BBK crossover pipe so I dont know if i should leave it or go with the X!!
You just experienced the same thing I did. Went from a BBK h-pipe and flowmasters to a Mac pro-chamber and catback...WOW what a difference! Car has picked up considerably and I like the sound when you nail it. I used to like Flowmasters and was skeptical but now I am very pleased.
I had a stock H-pipe and Flowmasters with dumps and went to a Mac Off-road H-pipe and the difference was there. I am gonna get Longtubes to a 3 inch X-pipe and Mac Pro-dumps

before it was just the flowmaster exhaust without h-pipe. no cats. it sucked real bad. i had a feeling of lost power. i would be asked by people since i put a brand new engine in it, if the car flys when you get on the gas. i would tell them truthfully "No" it feels like there is power lost somewhere. with the MAC Pro Chamber H-pipe and cat backs it really made a night and day difference. it now moves when you hit the gas. i heard the X-pipe is good for more power but i was interested in sound as well as power and thats the H-pipe. today i just got done putting in the trickflow intake manifold and plenum 90mm and 75mm accufab throttle body and now it really moves. good luck. :thumbsup

i believe any difference you might of felt from switching mufflers is just perception. flows and mac are both good. there is some pretty high technology to flowmasters' designs. it is impossible that a muffler would cause a power lose if it will outflow the stocker. there is less then a 5 h.p. difference on a car much higher h.p. then ours, just from switching mufflers. you most likely would never truly feel 5 h.p..
:thumbsup flows
Hmmm I hear a lot Mac quality has gone downhill. What Mac mufflers did you get?Right now I have F.M. 2 chamber w?downspouts & was looking at F.M. 3 chambers?Does anyone think Mac is better than F.M.?
I have a set of 2.5" MAC Pro-dumps, and i love those suckers. They were really easy to install, it took me about 2 hrs ( becase i had to hack saw off the old tailpipes). I dont have a lot of mechanical experience, and all i had to do was turn some nuts and wala! A wonderful sounding exhaust for under $200. I could feel the power increase (and hear it!!) even with the stock H-pipe(which will be an o/r X soon.

This is a crappy sig.
I wish i could

I doubt there was that much power gain. Maybe 10-20 horses if that. Not that big of a performance mod.
Damn, you must have a beast of a 'stang to say 10-20 hp isn't that much That's a heack of a gain in power in my book for just a bolt on. Remember, he did have a stock exhaust except for the f-m's, and we all know how much the stock exhaust sucks. I have BBK shorty's and H-pipe, and f-m 2 chambers and I can't complain about the sound. Not as loud as when I had dumps, but still a nice sound, especially when I step on it.
I have the 3 inch Mac H pipes with exhaust chamber, and the 2 chamber Flowmasters. I love em'- quiet when I'm cruising, but when I punch it...its louder than hell. Gotta love it
