Default Rear Main Seal

I believe oil is leaking from my rear main seal, cause i seen it dripping one time after i drove the car and it gets low on oil pretty easily...if i leave the car sit for a while and then check oil its not that bad but once i drive it around often and let it sit a night or too, my check oil light starts going back on and i need to add more! i know its bad if its leaking from rear main seal cause it can mess up clutch, how can i tell for sure without having to goto a mechanic? does it usually leak after driving? (please dont waste my time by saying its burning oil i know its not)

You should see a puddle of oil forming under your bellhousing/block. It will usually leak, not so much during driving (but its still possible) but when you shut it off and the oil starts going back to the pan.
How are you at pulling your tranny by yourself? you can check for sure if its the seal or not... but otherwise if you start it, let it warm, and shut it off, you should see drips...

A leak from the back of the intake can look like a rear main leak so check that as well.
The rear main leak will damage your clutch though, so look into is as soon as you can.

It's a Ford 302...there's a 99% chance the rear main seal is leaking if you haven't replaced it lately.

Question How hard to replace

I think my rear seal and back of the intake is leaking. How hard is it to replace the rear main seal. I plan on new heads and intake this fall.
I am leaking using around 2 qt in 1000 miles. But I do not see any smoke from back of car and the car runs great.

It could be your oil pan gasket also. I just recently had the same problem and thought it was the rear main seal. I broke an oil pump shaft and had to pull the motor and discovered the rear main was dry as a bone and the leak was coming from the rear of the oil pan. When it dripped down it looked like it was coming from the rear seal. Just someting to check.
