Default strange engine noise

i just recently bought a 88 Mustang GT 302 EFI with unknown amount of km. Its starts fine, and runs excellent, but there is a small ticking noise coming from the passenger side rear of the engine. I would please appreciate any help. Valves maybe???

could be an exhaust leak or a lifter.

yup, take a flashlight and look at the passenger side exhaust manifold, if you see some carbon black color, it will be an exhaust leak.........if you don't see it, and you are sure that it is not leaking, then you have a bad lifter........um, if you arent sure if the gasket is leaking and before you throw in some new lifter's, replace the gasket..........shouldn't take you more then a couple of hours or less'''''

Try tightening those header bolts and see if that fixes it.
