I didnt have this problem last year. This year I make 2 changes. I went to an 80mm accufab and long tube headers. Now I am thinking that my throttle may be too large. Last year I could break tires loose in 2nd no problem and break em loose in 3rd if I played with the clutch. This year I cant break em loose in 2nd for anything. There is also no real hard pull til 3500 rpm. I wanted some improvement last year and contacted Anderson Motorsports and was told I needed an 80mm race throttle. So could it be that the throttle is too large? or could it be that I may have a bad tps? The sputter is from idle to 2k or maybe 2200. after this it goes away. Any ideas? It acts as if your in a high gear such as 3rd and trying to drive at 10 mph. From idle it feels choppy also. Anyone have any suggestions I can try?

well, the 80mm TB will eat up some of your torque, but that is not your issue. Take off your TPS and see if it spins freely. Does it idle okay? If so, its not the TPS. When mine went bad I had a huge surge in my idle constantly. Do you maybe have a vacuum line unplugged? If not I dont know... Good Luck man.

tps is set at .98. It does like to surge a little at idle but not very much. here is another thing.. i just installed my lower intake a few weeks back and didnt use cork in the middle but used silicone. i am experiencing some coolant lose and it appears to be wet at the silicone. i am in the process of getting other gasket and installing cork. ok, is it possible that if its leaking at the lower intake that it could cause a vacuum leak? im gonna check vacuum today to verify what i have at idle.

It is absolutely possible. I actually have the same kind of problem, and I think that it is from a very small vacuum leak in the lower as well. I have the same small surge at idle, but only for the first 20 sec. or so. I am puttin on a Cobra intake soon, if I this fixes it I will let you know.

Well I still ahve the same problem. I have regapped the plugs which are new, replaced cap and rotor. Here is a real kicker! I took my 80mm throttle off and replaced it with a stock 89 mustang throttle. I dont know the exact size, maybe 55 or so. I wanted to see if the sputter went away. Unfortunately it didnt go away. However, The car pulls just as hard if not harder then the 80mm. Kinda weird eh? I figured it would really struggle since its small size. The throttle response isnt as good though. I almost like the way the stock 89 throttle works over this high dollar 80mm.
