Question Gt 40 Head Questions

I bought some heads that are suppose to be gt 40 heads, i talked to a couple of people and they say they are gt 40 cast iron heads but i just wanted to check with you guys, they have gt stamped on the inside of the head next to the springs and on the outside of the head, they have 3 ridges on the end of the head, i heard if it has 4 ridges it is a p head and 3 ridges is a reg. Gt 40 head.

Also i bought some ford racing roller rockers, 1.6 ratio, are all studs universal for the rocker arm or are they diff, i know they make diferent sizes 3/8 and 7/16 which ones should i get( do they come with nuts or do i need to buy them also),they have valve springs on them but i want new ones, what is a good brand to get, i was thinking comp but i figured id ask, thanks for all the help.

Yes those are GT40s (not Ps)

The GT40s use 3/8 pedestal type rockers, they are a bolt on deal, no need to change or buy anything.

As for the springs, get them for crane. They make those FORD Racing roller rockers.

the rockers should bolt right onto the heads, you don't need studs if they are the right frpp rockers, and should come with a bunch of little screws, shims, tie bars, and little nut lookin things, i have a set, and they fill a walmart bag with all the little bits that came with them..........

if you just have the rockers, no nuts, bolts, shims, or otherstuff, you got the shortstick on that deal

Double check the p/n on those rockers because Ford Racing sells those rockers in both pedastal and stud-mount.

Pedestal mount heads use 5/16 bolts, not 3/8.

You can access the pedestals, shims, etc from most any FRPP dealer. I know I have purchased those items from Tommie Vaughn before...

The stock plug (stock heat range) for the gt40 iron head is the awsf42c. In the autolite brand it is the 764...
