Default Trick Flow twisted wedge tech ?

I have heard that you can drill and tap the egr port on the heads then install a plug in it to cut down on heat in the intake. Is this true?

Also, do any of you have any other tricks I could use in order to pull a few extra ponies out of my 1990 5.0L?

Just in case you need to know, here is what I have done to the engine:

Summit block with a 347 stroker kit
Hawks racing Nodular crankshaft
Hawks racing forged I-beam rods
Keith Black .030 forged flattop pistons w/valve reliefs
Trick flow twisted wedge heads 2.02/1.60 61cc chamber, 170 intake runner, 66 exhaust runners.(Ported & polished)
Trick flow hydraulic roller camshaft 221IN/225EX 0.499/0.510 lift.
Compcam Noisy geardrive
Trick flow full 1.6 roller rockers.
Trick flow upper and lower intake.(Ported & polished)
MAC 1 5/8 longtube headers
FoMoCo 24lb injectors
BBK 70mm TB
Granitelli 75mm MAF cal.24#'s and CAI
BBK CAI
BBK 70mm EGR spacer
C-4 trans w/ 10inch Stall.
FoMoCo 4.10 gears
MSD Pro-Billet Ready-To-Run EFI Distributor
Taylor 10.4 blue wire set
Summit high output coil
Battery relocation
255lph fuel pump
BBK fuel press reg.
straight pipes no cats with Flowmaster 40 series w/turndowns

Why in the world would you drill a hole and then install a plug ?

The only way you are going to cool the intake is with a phenolic spacer.

It's not for the upper intake. It is for the lower intake. Pretty much you are just capping off the hot gases that run through the EGR section of the heads.

Once the car is warmed up there is no way you can help keep the intake cooler than any other situation. You have scaulding hot oil lubricating the pistons and extremely hot coolant running through the lower intake.

I would leave it alone.
