I have a 93 GT. I am thinking of stepping up to a 351. I have found a complete engine and transmission cheap and in good condition. I was wondering if I could use the block and then bolt my transmission to it? The engine is from a 1972 Mustang. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can use the block, and bolt it to your existing trans. You didn't state if you had a 5 spd or AOD, but either way you will need a new flywheel and balancer as the 5.0 has an internal balance of 50 oz while the 351W and early 302's have a 29 oz balance. It will require a new intake, headers, oil pan, and motor mounts as well.

The trick to that engine will be Machine wok as that year 351W has large chambered heads. you will have to Zero deck the block at Minimum to get the compression at 9 3/4 to 1.
