Default Fuel pressure problems

ok, back again with the same fuel problem. I cannot get the lines to hold pressure. I have an inline guage before the fuel rail. When the car is off the lines are supposed to remain pressurized (30-40 psi) all of the time. It used to before. I just finished putting in new 24lb squirters and a 76MM C&L mass air system. That fixed my rough idle problem but the lines still continue to bleed down. There are no leaks in the lines. I have a BBK 255lph pump on the way to me. Could that be the problem? Please help.

MODS:
1992 GT:
- Edelbrock Performer RPM upper/lower
- Edelbrock 70MM T/B and EGR
- E303 cam
- MAC unequal length headers 1 5/8
- 2 1/2 MAC prochamber H-pipe w/2 chamber flowmasters
- 24lb injectors.
- 76mm C&L mass air (calibrated for the injectors) cold air filter system
- BBK fuel regulator
- stock bottom end
- stock heads (E7TE stage II ported heads on the way)
- 3.73 gears

Thanks guys, your the best!!!

I remember your situation, it was awhile back. Yes the pump could be at fault as it could have a problem with the check valve not working properly. Since your changing the pump anyway let us know if it cured your problem. Frank

Default Same unsolved problem!

I have the same problem you have. I have an 88gt w edelbrocks performer package. I just installed a kirban reg+gauge....and discovered that the fuel system is bleedin off pressure somewhere. It supposed to hold pres for at least an hour.

I disconnected and plugged the fuel return line and that indicated that the problem is somewhere after the return line from the reg. I have a friend who bought a reg from BBK's sidewalk sale and it had a punctured diaphragm, maybe your reg has the same defect. If so you should smell gas at the vacuum hose connection.

My fuel pump was newly purchased as well...but its a cheap 155 pump from GTR and maybe it's already gone bad.(1y old)

If your problem is fixed after the pump install please post your info...or if you find out any other possible causes post those too. good luck.

It is the pump, I'm almost sure of it. I have seen this numerous times in the past.

It was the pump! It holds pressure now and it is SO much quieter! The old one that was in there before made all sorts of noise. It was sitting for about five hours since I replaced it and the guage still reads 39 psi with no bleeddown. Thank you everyone for all the inputs!
