Default Electric fan

I have a 89 GT hatch. basically stock...and i was thinking about changing my fan to an electric one. Which fan would be the best for the money and also am i going to need to change my alternater to run the extra load?

Definately need to upgrade that alternator to atleast a 90amp, 130amp is ideal.

You save some HP and gain a lot of clearance in the front of the motor.

I bought a used Flex-a-lite on ebay and payed 125 bucks...It was well worth it...You definately need to upgrade your alt. too...The stock one will barely turn the basic stuff...I also purchased a 130a off ebay and with a little redneck engineering; got it hooked up....

I have a Flex-a-Lite Black Tragic, and I would have to advise you against getting one, unless of course you get it for free. Mine did not cool my car (stock motor) untill I upgraded to a two row aluminum rad. I belive that the Ramchargers, or a good deal on a used Mark VIII is the way to go. As stated before, if you are going with any electric fan, upgrade to the 130A 3G. I found a place on the internet that was cheaper than PA, and they actually put out more at idle.

I'm one of a bunch of guys who run a Mark VII - Mark VIII fan and the dccontrol unit. I have a stock 2-core radiator and this fan and controller held temps to 187 in 102 degree heat (112 heat index) with the AC on in traffic.

I paid $40 for the fan and shroud and the dccontroller is less than $100. You do have to trimn the fan shroud on the MArk fan to get it in with the water pump pulley, but that is an easy job with a cutoff wheel.

I've heard you can use a taurus fan. Is this true? Or is that too small?

Yes, the Taurus fan works - as does the 94-95 fan.

i would not recommend a electric fan. you will need further mods to the belt. same with a water pump mod, and the best electric water pump is by meziere. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
you will get more hp from the electric water pump than a fan.
