Default Removing crank from 351W

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this board, and am really needing some insight. We are tearing down a 351 Windsor, and have gotten stuck at trying to remove the crank. We have removed all the main bearing, and only lack 3 rod bearings. We cannot get the timing chain cover off because of the harmonic balancer that is on the end of the crank. We have taken the pulley off of the crank, but are stuck at this point. Any suggestions, or tips on how to go about this. BTW we removed the big nut in the end of the crank too. Do we need to hammer the harmonic balancer off, or where do we go from here.

Thanks,
Shawn.

You need to use a balancer puller. They are available at part stores for about $12 or so.

Here's a pic of how it works.

I appreciate the help. We got everything out tonight, and are cleaning up the block. We are about to start buildup on this engine, and are now trying to decide which setup to do.
