Default cruise not working, big trip help!

Hi everyone, I'm Eric a new member here. I have a 90 LX 5.0 and my cruise don't work. I'm heading on a 800 mile trip and I hate not having cruise. Haynes manual is worthless, cruise isn't even mentioned in it. My vacuum, electrical and throttle linkage seem to be in order in the wheelwell. My horn works so I know I'm getting power to the steering wheel but it just don't work!
I'm not an amateur with cars, in the last month I put on new struts, brakepads and Summit welded mufflers. Also I repaired my A/C which had 3 leaks and a bad cycling switch, I just can't figure this one out, probably because I cannot find a schematic anywhere for it, not even veryuseful.com any help would be appreciated, thanks!

the horn has nothing to do with cruise.you first need to check the fuse then go on to check the speed sensor, make sure the plug is not disconnected and in good shape.if this checks out more than likely the speed sensor needs replacement.

all the fuses and connectors are good but there are a couple cut and rerouted wires under the dash I was hoping to get a schematic for, I'm guessing since the speedo works the sensor is ok, thanks

dude; the speedo working has nothing to do with the speed sensor for the cruise.the cruise is electrical at the sensor and the speedo is not.check the connections and if this checks out then you will have to replace the sensor.

This sounds stupid, but make sure that your foot is not touching the clutch when you try to turn the cruise control on. Even if you are resting your foot on the pedal it will keep it from activating. For the longest time I just accepted that my cruise control did not work until I realized that I was always resting my foot on the clutch. It's worth a shot. ???

more than likely, its the deactivation switch, which is the sending unit that sits right on the master cylinder. 9 out of 10 times that the problem with a speed control problem, expecially considering the horn works meaning the clockspring is probably ok. btw Stingrey, speed control is in the steering wheel which runs its wires through the clockspring in the steering wheel, which is the same as with the horn. if your horn works and your airbag light isnt flashing that most likely isnt your problem. i bet its either the switch or the servo, but the switch is real cheap and the servo is not... good luck
