LOTS!!! It has been done many times, I don't know the level of your mechanical knowledge but it is simplified if you had a donor car with the 5.0 in it. Not only do you need the engine but from the motor mounts to engine harness and computer to accessory brackets, to make the swap alot easier for you. Rather than hunting all over for all the little odds and ends. Frank.

Frank is right, a donor car is the only way to go. Find a wrecked one. All the parts will bolt on and it is fairly straght forward.

This is becoming more and more popular since there a plenty of really clean 4 bangers, and many wrecked 5.0's. Clean, virgin, 5.0's are getting harder to find now. A "friend" from Canada told me recently that this is very popular there, since there are not too many 5.0's there.

I have done two of these swaps. There is a lot more to the swap than you think.

The rear steel brake line and fuel line is different than the four banger. The mount for the rear brake flex line and fuel line is moved to allow room for the dual exhaust.

Rear springs are different. 4 cyl fuel pump will work, but swap to the 5.0.

Front springs, struts, brakes, power brake booster and the mount for brake flex line will need to be swapped to 5.0. Oh yeah, the tach for the 4 cyl will not work for the 5.0

You have a 92. You will need to get a 91-93 main wire harness and processor. C9 & C10 connectors are different on 88-90 (88 Calif. is mass-air) they are both located on drivers side engine compartment by firewall. 91-93 Ford relocated one of them inside passengers kick panel. You could use 88-90 by swapping out the dash wire harness. I had to do this for my twin turbo 91 LX it is a MAJOR PAIN IN THE A@#!!

So you can see where a donor car comes in handy. I feel it is the most economical way to go.

Feel free to E-mail me. I can get into more detail

Tony B.
