Default Few questions on Painting Ground Effects?

This weekend I'm hoping to repaint my ground effects, and was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips.
I've got a decent amount of time behind a spray cay, but still, its a pretty major project.
So far, heres my plan,
Prep: : Light sanding w/ 1k grit to rough up te surface, and a rubbing alcahol bath and tack cloth to remove the residue.
painting: Heres the biggest rub: To primer or not to primer? I have no idea how well the paint (SEM 39283) light titanium will stick and cover the various imperfections on the f/x.
I'm stil considering hitting the local autozone for a vinyl repair kit, but its not a huge beef, just one of the slots on the front ends cracked. but I'd rather not have to find a flexable primer, throws a bit of a wrench in the plans, LOL

What do you guys think?
J

if your trying to avoid using a flex agent, instead of using a vinyl repair kit, get a fiberglass patching kit. it uses fiberglass patches (looks like gauze) and a hardcore toxic resin that will destroy your personal health. but it WORKS. my brother pieced together a shattered groundeffect for his 77 trans am with it, saved himself 400 bucks. you do the fiberglass patching on the BACK of your body piece, and then just use good ol' bondo on the front.

check into it
