Default Converting to carb setup on 1989 Mustang -need help

Im converting my 89 5.0 to a carburated setup. I already have my new trickflow cam, proform carb, intake and all of the other stuff to do it with.Obviously it is computer controlled right now so my first question is where is the computer located and can i just pretty much rip all of the wires out? Or what? basicly im just wondering if there is anything important i need to leave.for instance if i take a certain wire out will my car not start from the key anymore ect.?i'm sure you can tell i dont know what the hell to take out and what not to by now.so any help or tips on the whole tear down would be much appreciated.thanks

the computer is located behind the passenger side kicker panel...you will have to take off one bolt to remove it...it will slide out....then you will need to remove the efi wiring harness (again on the passenger side) which can be pulled through the engine compartment...there will be a rubber grommet holding it in place but if you get a screwdriver behind it should pull out...since I am not going to be using mine again I just cut off mine with a blade..I also will be converting my 89 Gt to carb setup...again it takes patience and isn't that hard!!!!! someone will definetly buy your computer from you...I got like $30 for mine and also sold the wiring harness...good luck in the project

as far as the fuel pump...i have already bought a new holley blue but as far as the pick up tube in the tank...how will i get that to work with my new pump? is it self explainatory when i drop the tank?and like i said before when i do remove the computer i wont have to worry about my key starter not working or anything right? and as far as the distributor...none of that has anything to do with the computer right?...im just not used to any efi stuff that is why i am so confused about all of this stuff lol

Remove the EFI pump from the pickup, then install a length of 3/8" rubber fuel line in it's place... Instant carbed pickup! As far as the dizzy, you need an '85 5 speed Duraspark or aftermarket equivelant.

Check youre other post... I posted a link that has everything you need to know.

OK - shoot me for asking but why go backwards from efi to a carb? Reading your mods it seems the efi is more than up to the task and will probably offer better cold starts and driveability, especially if tuned. ?

Just curious...

hey rebel racing take the holley fuel pump back to the store and trade it for a mallory 4309 fuel regulator this way you can use your stock in-tank electric fuel pump and you do not have to drop your fuel tank.
