Default Is a 3 inch exhaust too big for a stock application?

I have a 3 inch dynomax cat back system that i am going to install tommorow. I had a friend tell me that i made a mistake by buying the exhaust and that 3 inches were too big for my application. I also have a pair of hedman shorty headers i am putting on but the hedders won't go on for another month or so. Should i sale the catbacks or put them on anyway? I notice no one really runs the 3 inchers. Help

Oh yeah the engine is bone stock, it already has after market headers and flowmasters on it but i dont know what kind of headers they are or what series the flows are. I recently purchased the car, and the guy had no clue.

I've got the JBA system it's 2.5 w/3" tips, and it's bigger than most. I've had people tell me it looks good. I'd say go for it, it's a Mustang.

You definately do not need to upgrade the size of your exhaust pipe. Keep it stock or you will lose a ton of torque and gain 0 hp.

hey thanks Ghost, that's the last thing we'd want is to loose some juice LOL, the car pulls strong all the way to fifth. i like it and it was a helluva a deal for 500 bucks!! i will make sure the exhaust pipes remain the same.
