More 5.0 Beginners questions Post #40 by Frosted 5.0 in the Sticky Thread "5.0 Beginners Guid to Mod" is what I need some insight into. What modifications dictate fuel injector/TB/MAF/chip and fuel pump chagnes?
Some insight into what I'm currently running, what it's in, and what I want to do to it;
I've got a 89 GT 5.0 enigne with a A9L computer in a relatively heavy Jeep (I'm guessing at least a 4000lbs. curb weight). I want to make lower end power, probably something I can run down around 700-800 rpm and then when I pin the gas be able to run up to about 3000 rpm quickly. Understand, it's big, it's heavy and it's work to get the engine to spin.
I've purchased a complete '97 Explorer 5.0 for the heads and intake (which should be GT-40p heads and a GT-40 style intake, correct?). I intend to swap those items, a B303 cam and and 1.6 roller rockers into my '89 block.
So, what size injectors/MAF meter should I install in this engine?
Should I use the stock Explorer MAF housing and TB or should I get something else (I currently run a Thunderbird SC MAF housing)?
Do I need to get a custom chip burnt?
What about the stock '89 fuel pump?
Oh, and all of this is with a set of Summit Street Rod headers.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction?
