If its the original AODE get rid of the car while it still shifts correctly or have it rebuilt/ buy a new one with stronger internals. The AODE in my car lasted 58k. Now it needs a rebuild and I'm going to be in the whole $1200 or so. My advice would be to get a 5 speed car. If you continue to drive it in a "sprited" maner, be sure to get any of the before stated shift kits, a heavy duty
trans cooler and keep on top of the fluid and filter maintenance. The AODE simply cannot handle the torque the 302 throws out. I'm not sure who drove my car for the first 30,000 miles, but i managed to kill it within 30,000 more, and my driving style is moderate.
