Default upgrading to 5 lug good?

soooooooo i need new brakes and new rotors so my dad is suggesting that i just upgrade it to a 5 lug and then search like a junk yard for some 5 lug rims and he doesnt want to buy me new rims. haha is the 5 lug upgrade alright or i can stick with the 4 lug? does it make any difference? besides making it harder to find rims that i like on a 4 lug? because in the summer im going to put some cobra rims on my 89 vert GT and they do have 4 lug. but should i jus do the 5?

I would do it you be safter with 5lug then 4lug and you get put the rims you like on her then..

I think 5.0 resto sell a kit. or you can do it the cheap way and find the part you need in a junk yard but i would just get the kit..

Your are better off with the SN95 Brake Conversion as you will have greater wheel choices. The Kit you are looking at greatly limits what wheels you can put on your car.

The reason why a 4 to 5 lug conversion is suggested is that you'll end up having to use a different braking system (4 wheel disk brakes and larger rotors) which end up adding some stopping power.

Also, why the 5 lug is suggested is that their is a belief that you can end up warping your rotors by using the stock 4 lug kit for higher HP applications. The 5th lug is suggested to add some more stability to the cars rotors.

I'd say do it, but, you might not NEED to do it.

Most big brake packages only offer 5 lug rotors so I would go ahead and definately get 5 lug axles.
