Default Parking Brake seal...

I own a 86 Mustang GT and have a weird problem: I get a lot of heat coming out of the parking brake seal. The seal is busted and not really doing much in the form of sealing, I guess.

My girlfriend has a 1993 LX and her seal is busted to (as well as the ashtray door, go figure) and she gets the same heat coming out of there.

My questions are, does anyone else have this problem and does replacing the seals solve the problem? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Default Fixed the console seals... no difference.

Okay, so I repaired the rubber seal that is connected to the plastic console that covers the e-brake handle on both cars (a 1993 and a 1986) and they are still pumping air. I realize that it is pulling the warm air accumulating from my exhaust system, but I want to know if anyone else had/has this problem and fixed it. It's nice to know what to do before you do it, you know. I am getting ready to rip the whole center console out and give it a good look.

It's just a minor problem, I know, but the it's the small ones that are always really annoying. I can't really enjoy driving around wtih the windows down because all I feel is hot air on my right arm. I've looked for other posts describing similar problems to mine with no avail. As a matter of fact, while Googling the problem I came across this great site.

Thanks for any help.
