Yup, I'm still around, just been mondo busy/stressed/no 'puter time.

Don't worry, the last "10 minutes" are on the reel, LOL. I had to let the final painting for the back bumper ride as winter set in, (plus other expenses) but paintin weather is here again. Hopefully this coming week (payday) I'll be able to order the last couple of cans I'll need, and wrap this puppy up.
I've still got the backlog of pics, too, *somewhere*but just havent had a chance to keep playing with them to get the site to accept them.

Just hang on for a bit, believe me, I'm sick of having a primer bumper too.

Thanks,
J

If you are talking about the ones under the doors this is how you would get them off.
  • Take out the screws that are holding it in around the front wheel well and all along the underside of the car.
  • Now you have to lift up on the long bottom section of it to pull it out of the clip.
  • The taller section of it has to go both toward the back of the car and up to get it out.
It is pretty easy and straight forward, just make sure you don't bend or flex it too much especially when putting it back on so you don't crack the paint. Also tape off some of the car when putting it back on so you don't scratch the car when trying to get it back into the clips.

Hope this helps, you may have to replace a few of the clips that help hold them on since they get rusted out and that is probably why your ground effects are starting to fall off.

Can anybody tell me where I can get a complete replacement kit of clips that hold the ground effects to the body. ie under the doors and back section of front fender. I found a set on e-bay but hate bidding. I would rather just buy new or used out right. Please respond ASAP my car is in the paint shop and I will need these this week. Thanks in advance.

Yeah
I was looking on 50resto.com and it seems that have the screws but I do not know these come with the clips and I am sure that my clips will be rusted or need replacement when I get under there and start removing the skirts. It would be great to buy these parts new and just have them on hand before I begin the project.

Good job. And for all those people that don't have air commpressors can always go to any automotive paint store give them your paint code and then put it in aerosol cans for you.

This Thread is awesome, I am now officially starting a project of my own this weekend. It's funny how it sometimes takes someone braving through it for you to realize that it can be done yourself! Thanks a bunch for the post, and the encouragement!!!

Thumbs up

That looks great
There are alot of people that are also removing t h ose effects because they add weight a few hundred pounds but it does add to the car.

The headlights are the same, you will need the front and rear bumpers and all of the side mouldings and skirts. I saw a few people selling complete kits just this week on eBay so they are out there.
