About time for me to get some new sneakers. I'm currently running 225 50 16 up front and 245 50 16 on the back. 1988 5.0. I'll probably keep the sizes the same, but I'd sure like to squeeze a 255 on the back. This car only goes to the drag strip 1 - 4 times a year so that is not the primary motivation. Car very rarely (if ever) anymore sees rain. I'd like some performance and some stickiness.
Just wondering what everybody likes. Thanks
i purchased some hankook k106's (summer perfomance)
the specs are in my signature
never been happier
i cant even lay scratch anymore, and i take turns while bouncing my needle
its like riding on peanut butter. fantastic.

Well if you dont drive it every day like i do then i would defently recomend micky thompson et streets. They ware quick if you try to spin um a lot like i do but there nice and sticky and grip real good.I think they would last about 3 to 4 months if you baby the car lol (with highway driving).good tires tho.tires look awesome too!!

i think he may be leaning more toward a road racing tire than a drag tire. less on the side of "getting traction" and more on the side of GRIP, i.e. holding traction on 90mph turns with the tach sky high.
just look for a good summer performance tire. as i said, the hankook k106 is great. also the bfg g-force sport is a good tire too. youve got options.

Thanks for the replys everyone. Of course, in an ideal world i'd have one tire that grips the turns but also gets traction on the 1/4 whenever I go. However, reality is that I work 50 miles from the house so when I do drive it to work I'd probably eat up a set of soft compound tires real quick. It'd be fun while it lasted though.
so you have heard good things about the g force tire....like as in lasting and gripping?if so i think i will go with them next...any comments on that? i will also be driving on the highway a lot.

I just purchased a set of Nitto's about 6 months ago. I don't have the model right now, but I can get it if your interested.
I'm very happy with them, great grip, and predictable at the edge. One of the Mustang mags just recently tested a group of performance tires and rated the Nits first. ( I'll see if I can find the article for you)
These tires handle like crap until you get some miles (hard) on them. They really came alive after about 1,000 miles.. BTW I don't drive the car in the rain, so I can't comment on wet traction

yea the gforce sport is a great tire, but to be honest, i dont think the price tag is right.
at discounttiredirect.com i got my hankook k106's for a measly 66 bucks each. at that price i absolutely cannot believe how well they perform. but if you are looking for the better name, go for it. i belive the gforce were only 90 bucks each. and free shipping. (best tire site on the net)
