Well guys got my clutch p.p. t/o brg & pilot bush in along w/ screwup to trans repaired. What a pita!!!Everything fought me.Anyway there is a switch on the top of the trans(t-5) that goes into the shaft that runs along the top cover to the shifter & its not the rev lgt switch. What else could it be for?Its got me puzzled.
That is the nuetral sensing switch that allows the EEC to spit out codes on a T5 car - if you don't get it working, no codes. There is a VERY small pin that goes in beneath the switch - be sure it's in there or the switch will not work.

Thats pretty strange.Wonder why it needs to see neutral to generate codes?Anyway I have to get a new one so what do i call it?Is it actually called a neutral sensing sw?Thanks
What were to happen if I just splice the 2 wires off the switch together?Would it affect how it runs? The reason I ask is one pin is busted off of the switch.
The switch should be cheap - if you have a trans shop anywhere close I bet you could get a good used one off a blown up T5 real cheap. I don't recommend just splicing the wire together - do it right.

The neutral safety switch is for the ECU to run diagnostic tests that include opening the throttle. The ECU needs to know it's in neutral before doing them.
And yes, you can run a wire to ground to tell the ECU you're in neutral all the time. I put in a toggle switch and the engine runs the same with it <on> or <off>.
Why "rig" it though since the switch can be found for next to nothing............
