Default clutch pedal hard to push down..???

my clutch pedal has always been hard to push down (compared to others) since i bought the car 8 months ago.it is so hard that after 7 months of new upr clutch cable it started fraying by the pedal.i replaced it imedatly with a new stock cable (so i wouldnt get stuck on the road some where) and i broke 2 stock cables as soon as i pushed the pedal(the cable did not brake just the plastic part by the tranny) i then got a zoom cable (3 days ago) and it is still real hard but everything is ok so far......i do not know if it is a stock clutch because i did not do and tranny work since i bought the car...is there something that could go wrong with a clutch that would make the pedal hard to push down besides a heavy duty pressure plate?? i would really appreciate any help on this..thanks in advance

Well I would think that you have an aftermarket heavy duty clutch and that is why it is so hard. A lot of times people get an easier clutch pedal feel after a cable swap but since you've done that , it has to be a heavy clutch.

Throw-Out-Bearing can cause everything you have stated and a bad pressure plate will do the same thing.

i have been having the same problem with my 89 gt car i have broke lots of cables and are still having problems with it. i have a tremec t-5 and a king cobra clutch in my car with a racing clutch cable kit in there. now i was o a other web sight and they had said that if the clutch fork and the pivot ball that it sits on is old that they will what they called square off meaning that they are not round on both ends like they should. causing them to bind and they causing the cables to snap. so in light of all of that i have just spent 125 dollars on jegs ordering all the new parts that i will need to change those parts out. i really hope that this will fix the problem that i have been having i will re-post on how things go after i get them put on.

Pressure plate is shot. Throw out bearing is a good item to renew when doing the job. Machine the flywheel to get a fresh, non heat sunk (no blue) surface. Put it all back together and you should have a nice, smooth clutch pedal action.

That's probably it, get those parts in there and it should improve.
