Default Dipstick sleeve

Hey everyone, I just bought a 79, with a 302. The other day I went to check the oil because I had realized I had not yet and when i pulled up on the dipstick the entire sleeve came out of the oil pan. I fought with it for awhile yesterday and got close but there's gotta be an easier way to get it back in. Any suggestions? I thought about taking the header off but I was wondering if I could avoid that.

You should be able to get the sleeve back in with not much effort , just slide it between the header and the block and wiggle it back and forth into the hole.

Curiosity are you sure the entire sleeves came out, or is there a possibility that part of the sleeve is still in the block and the reason you are having such a hard time getting the sleeve back in?

It looked like the entire thing, it slid out extremely easy. Im placing it in between the last and second to last header tube. but the spot in the oil pan is towards the front of the car some from that point. Even though it came out easy would it be hard to push back down?
