so I had an earlier thread about putting my car into the water and it not starting back up, well I towed it to my mechanic and it's toast, so now I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do, anyone know someone with either a cobra or 5.0L for sale haha??
pull your plugs and see if the cylinders are full of water. if they are pull all plugs and crank the engine a couple times 5 seconds a peice till all the water comes out. spray a little bit of wd40 in the holes and let it set for a day , then drain the oil , refill, and put clean plugs back in, gaurantee it will fire up unless you blew a hole in a piston or something.

it wont even turn with the plugs out with a crowbar, I blew something inside the motor, thanks for the thought though, we tried that hoping to god it would work, but I only wish I were so luckey haha
man that sucks lol. you can get a new shortblock 302 roller for under 1500 bucks you'll just have to reuse your heads, intake etc. hope you figure something out.

You 'hydra-locked' the engine. Driving it into the water (must of been deeper than you though--Huh?), resulted in the motor ingesting water and it tried to become a big pump. As you found out the basis of hydraulic theory is that you can not compress a liquid, and when the motor came up on the compression stroke....something had to give. I would guess you broke something...perhaps a rod. But you won't know until you get out the hoist and pull the motor.
yeah I have started the hunt as of today, you can buy a car for what some of them are asking, I might as well buy straight from ford compared to what people are asking for half assed used motors, thinking about going with a cobra engine, I can get one for the same price as a normal HO pretty much, life is grand isn't it haha
try craigslist.org, ive found several for $400-$1500 with around 116k and some even have trannys. go to craigslist.org then go to your city then click on auto parts, have fun...
You probably cracked a rod trying to compress the water. That really sucks man. Try EBAY and other places that sell car parts that are popular, I see 5.0 engines on EBAY all the time from smashed up GTs. Also, you can look for a smashed up PI Crown Vic for an engine if you can. Other than that try for the short blocks suggested before.
