Default Problem with Pro 5.0

OK, so the Pro 5.0 shortshifter is installed. Great!

But... it is sooooo much harder to put it into gear. Finding the gear is easy, granted, and I have never "missed" third. But, I have to start lifting weights if I'm gonna get it into a gear. I can't do a 5th to 2nd drop because it takes so much time to push it into second.

Help!

It is bolted tight on the tranny, and is lined up. I know that much.

But what about the positive stops? How would they affect its ability to get into gear?

The stops are there so you do not over extend the shift on the transmission and mess it up.If they are too close to the shifter it will not go in gear right and may pop out,too far back you will shift too far,put trans in 1st and loosen bolt with nut in front of the shifter move bolt away from shifter make sure it is all the way in 1st gear then move bolt towards shifter until it just touches it,then loosen it up maybe a 1/2 to full turn then tighten nut, should be a small gap between shifter and bolt maybe the thickness of a penny, then put can in 2nd and repeat procedure, then check 3rd make sure it goes all the way in gear, then 4th and 5th,hope this helps.

Thank you, but no.

The problem is that it doesn't want to get into the gear easily. Its like there's a barrier before the gear itself. Once I use a lot of strength and PUSH it into the gear, it clicks in and stays like a good stick.

Kinda like trying to put it into reverse when you're going forward. It resists the movement, but you can put it in with force. Imagine that for every single gear!

chances are you didn't install it correctly, I had mine installed by my friend who installs heads/camshafts etc. and it works fine...if you aren't sure how to do it you should goto someone and have them check it over.

Well, I don't see what could have gone wrong with install. Its basicly pull the old one out, and put the new one in. The ball was in the joint, and the four bolts lined up when tightened.

I'll look into it anyways, though. Thanks!

It started in neutral, than was pushed to 2nd, than back to neutral when the new one was put in.
