I'm looking at Ford Racing Performance Parts catalog page 62. The dimensions of a 351W 23 3/4 tall from oil pan to valve covers. The 302 is 20 3/4" tall. I'm guessing but I'd say it can be done if you're willing to use an EFI with shorter runners. Something like the old cartech "breadbox intakes" would probably be able to retain a stock hood but that type of intake is really a race item and not real streetable.

I would say contact Joe at Chicane Motorsports in Southern Cal and have him build you a set of drop down motor mounts that were used on the sn95 351 Saleen cars and then use a 94 upper cobra intake. The intake for a 93 cobra is 11. inches tall, the explorer is 11.5 inches tall and the 94-95 cobra is 9.5 inches tall. Between these two components and a tech head it should go. I am using the same set up. If you are worried about air intake volume double extrude hone. I am very concerned with body lines and the stock appearance, so the cobra intake is going to be fine with me. Hope this helps.
