Default 1.7

Is that all you did - change to 1.7 rockers?

If so, sounds like you might need to check that they were at zero (plus a 90 degree turn, I think). Check your directions (or lacking those, with the manufacturer). I'm working from memory, so not 100% sure, but I suspect you're not getting full action working.

Also, I can see where GhostDog might be going, depending on what the answer to his question is.

Could also be that you messed up your EGR hookup or left off some vacuum hose - check those first, of course.

Default Pedestal Mount

The more I think about it, the more likely it seems to me you have some Cobra Pedestal Mount rockers. You have to use shims with these. There's a method to it (I won't try to disgorge it all from memory - probably get it wrong anyway). You can find it on sites like Comp Cams under the faq's.

Were they new?

At any rate, did you use shims?

What process did you go through?

they were not new got them from my uncle.Did not use shims because when i first put them on they were too loose so i had the pedestals machined. So im thinking that they were machined wrong and when i bolt them down they open the valves but they are surpose to be closed. I think i should put my stock ones back on.

Depending on how they were machined, you may find that your old ones won't work properly, either.

Go to Comp Cams and find their instructions. They have pics, if memory serves - see if they look like what the shop did to yours.

You should discuss this with the machine shop - if they're any good, they'll help you figure out your problem.
