Default Heads Questions

As most of you know, over the winter I am planning to change the heads, cam and intake manifolds. I have all the information on the cam and intake, as i am going with the trick flow intake and E-303 cam. My only question is heads. I have a buddy of mine who will hook me up with his old heads for pretty cheap (stock heads). Is it worth it to get them ported and polished? Will the heads work good with my future intake and cam? Also if it is worth it to get the stock heads ported, where is a good place i can ship my heads to get them done?

Thanks
Henry

I wouldn't go with the ported stock heads route, especially if your going with the Trick Flow intake and E303 cam. I would purchase a set of aluminum heads perferably a custom package set with upper and lower intakes, or ask around what other people have that works for a different combination. I don't think that the stock heads will be able to flow (breathe) when you add a cam that is much more aggresive than stock. Horsepower gains will be minimized. The trick into making horsepower besides compression is how much air you can get in and out of a cylinder efficiently,(flow rates). Frank

Try this link for surprisingly good heads at very moderate cost,
complete with sources and a number of options on "how you want
to do it"

www.geocities.com/MotorCi...t40p.html

for totally stock brand ford heads, try
www.oemfordparts.com/line...?LineID=1

and to get good discounts on gen Ford parts, try
www.FORDPARTSNETWORK.COM/

Probably cheaper or at least in the same ballpark, depends on how you do it,
certainly more effective.
