Default COMP cams 31-226-3 vs. F303

Hi
I've been looking into putting a f303 cam into my 93 5.0.
However, thumbing through Summit's catalog I found comp cam's
31-226-3 which looked similar, at least to me, to the f cam.
Obviously I'm no expert so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this cam, and if it is indeed similar to the f cam.

The specs are:
comp cams -
Advertised Duration 280/280, @ .050" 230/230, Lift .512/.512, lobe separation 110

f303 - Advertised Duration 288/288,
@ .050" 226/226, Lift .512/.512, lobe separation 109

another thing is summit's price for the comp cams is $104 vs. f303's $190

thanks for your help

well, you got another 8º of duration with the F303, but the price is right for the comp cam. I have an F303 stick in my engine and so far so good. I like it, but I haven't tried anything else. I can only say I like it.

$104 almost sounds too cheap. I would rather pay the extra bones for a Ford
part that you know will fit and work properly. JMO.

thanks for your opinions
do you really think that there is a risk of the comp cam not working properly?

Just cause its cheap doesn't mean its crap. Comp Cams makes some good products. I had a Ford Racing cam, and something to think about, is Comp, Crane, Isky, etc. is constantly coming out with new cams, and different designs, while Ford has been using the same cams for what, 15 years? maybe less, maybe more.

Before getting a cam, take a look at your current set-up, heads, intake, n/a, blower etc. What do you want out of that motor and what will you be using it for.

By the #'s, the Comp looks a little more streetable, not by much though.

I guess the fact that I work at a Ford dealership makes me bias. Don't get me
wrong there are a lot of good aftermarket parts out there, but certain things are
better off IMO to come from the manufacturer.

Not trying to step on any feet, sorry if I came off that way. I also work at a Ford dealer, and strongly agree that Ford parts usually fit and work the best, but I have had a Ford Racing cam before and it was a decent cam as far as fit, reliability, etc. but I have had better results with my TFS cam as far as power and it fits just as well as the Ford one did.
