does it have the air pump still? I have an 89 with no air pump and no a/c and I run a 70.5 in belt. Works fine. It will be very close to touching the fan pulley, but I have my tensioner rigged in a way that it doesn't go all the way down. The a/c eliminator braket is not to make sure everything turns the right way, but to avoid the belt hitting the fan pulley where it goes back to the p/s pump. Everything will turn the way the engine turns. Check that the fan is on in a way that it will PULL air in towards the engine through the radiator. You can tell by looking at the fan blades and knowing which way the engine turns.

by the way, this is assuming both engines have the "accesories" in the same places, since mine is a later model.

You want for the waterpump and fan to spin in the opposite direction - unless they're off of a non serpentine-belt car. On the serpentine setup, they are driven by the outside of the belt, rather than the inside.
I've seen pictures of turnbuckle arrangements, which use the alternator as the tensioner.
You could also get a non-AC power-steering-pump bracket.
And when it comes to the passenger side of the accessory-drive setup, the '85 and newer cars have a different tensioner, and I think that the alternator and smogpump bracket is different.

oh man, sorry! I think I got it all messed up. Yeah it is driven by the outside of the belt so it must turn in the opposite way. Thanks meangreen92 Yeah, just make sure the fan pulls air from outside through the rad. look closely at the blades/fins on the fan.
