Default 5 lug conversion

I plan on doing a 4 to 5 lug conversion on a 91 vert. I'm using a cobra style spindle and rotor setup on the front and the sn95 axle swap and rear disc brake conversion on the rear. Should i change the the rear diff gears also? Also, i want run a high offset wheel like an 18x8.5 +40 all around. I know the front will need an adapter 1.25" and the rear maybe .5". Are adapters safe and reliable if i don't plan on racing this car. It is going to be just a summer cruiser. Thanks

After i posted the first message i realized that i was in the introduction section. I recently bought a 91 vert gt and have quickly become hooked on fixing this thing up. I appreciate you guys taking the time to give me advice. I hope I'm not making a big mistake dumping a bunch of money in this thing, but i guess you can't take it with you when you die. So why not piss it away on a car. Right. Thanks
