I have went to the track the past 2 weeks and ran the same times. But the problem is they are not that fast for what I have and the mile an hour is not where it should be. And this time I went I added a PI Stailon converter and ran the exact same times no gain and no loss but it would have run just a little better but I have street tires on right now so I am spinng alot. I am wondering if there is something wrong in my combo somewhere but dont know where to start trying at. I think it may need to be tuned and that would help but any ideas would be appericated here is the major things on the motor and trans.
306 with AFR 185 heads, Trick Flow Track Heat upper and lower, 75mm throttle body, 30 pound injectors, 76mm mass air, comp cam 282/290 duration 574/586 lift 112 lobe seperation with comp cams 1.6 roller rockers, bbk headers, coustom made X pipe with flows. There is alot more.
The trans is an aod with PI 3200 stall, shift kit, and other.
I know I need some tires I am getting those next week. And I thinking it needs to be tuned. And also I have contacted Ed Curtis about the cam but he has not got back with me and I have e-mailed him 3 or 4 times in the past week or so and have not heard nothing from him I dont know he may be busy but when I sent the info he got right back with me.
Sorry so long but this is killing me 13.76 at 102 in a 91 coupe
Your probably making about 300hp give or take a few ponies. Judging by your post it appears that you havent done anything with the suspension.
A nice set of upper and lower control arms should help your 60ft times, some drag springs would be helpful too.
I was expecting to see at least 12's on the motor. And low 11's on the spray but it has not been sprayed yet. I mean I have the top of the line everything the compression is 10.5 to 1 full MSD and I mean everything. Maybe I'm expecting to much but a guy at the track tonight could not belive it was not going in the 12's for what I have. But yea I have not done much with the supension but my mph should be higher is what everyone is saying. Antoher thing that I forgot is 4.10 gears. I just dont know what to do is the injectors to big, is the cam to big, does it need a tune and a chip, I dont know where to start
A cam and head change for instance. for a 306 you must rely on the rpm to get you to the peak hp, so a high rev cam on a good 306 like you have would be better. Afr are a nice street head, but if your not stroked there not making as much torque, and you need it with that aod trans. A good set of trick flow high port heads will be better in my opinion with the higher revving cam. were is your trans shifting at what rpm? because most aod will shift between 4000 and 5000. with your stall converter it may be higher. you would need to have the trans tuned for higher shift points. i agree you should improve your suspension for better grip. remember that bigger is not always better. a higher revving cam will do nicely for the NOS. A 2800 stall would help over the 3200 but you need the shift points tuned to the right rpm were your motor makes its top power.. put it on a dyno and go from there.

I would start with a tune. (A chip burned on a dyno for your parts.) You have great parts on the car, a tune will help you alot. The 185 AFR's are really meant for a bigger motor like a 331 or 347 but they arent holding you back any. I wouldn't switch to Trick Flow's. They are good heads but they are not going to be any better than AFR's. I have the 165's and they make plenty of torque and the 185's make just as much. You can see that info for yourself in some of the back issues of 5.0
I believe a tune and some suspension work will go a long way to help you reach your goals. And if you really want that aod to wake up go with a valvebody, it will benefit that stall converter better than a shift kit. (Just remember that if that tranny isnt built to take the extra abuse it will go bad on you sooner rather than later.)
Yea I have been looking for some good suspension parts. But they sell so many different name brands and some many different things I dont know what to start with I know upper and lowers and some drag springs but are they all about the same or is one kind better than the other.
And for the tuning I believe I am going to care it to HPP Performance in Dallas TX. I have heard that they really know what they are doing but I did not think there was much you could do with the stock computers but I guess anything is better than nothing.
