I just bought a 89 mustang gt 5 speed,Im having electrical prob, and i will describe the problem and tell you what i have done so far.The 89 had a recall 5 years after production of this model, the ignition switch was defective, the original owner took it to the dealership to have the problem resolved.Recently, the ignition key cylinder developed a dead zone,in the run position the air cond. and blinkers would not operate,if the key was moved back slightly it would die,but ,moved even more slightly everything would work.I have replaced the key cylinder, and now i have no power what so ever except head lights, brake lights, and door chime, therefore logic dictates that all other electrical systems are on a different circuit......radio,air,dash lights, etc. What I have done so far to remedy the prob. is........new relay, battery, ignition switch, ignition module.Still nothing,I have made a grave error in forgetting to disconnect the battery when proceding to change the ignition key cylider and a surge was heard, some component is shorted.Any ideas to the prob. will be much appreciated, thank you.
