Default Tire + Rim Question

Hey guys I am interested in getting some new rims+tires. I am thinking about Weld Racing' Draglites (http://www.need-4-speed.com/weld.htm)
I was wondering what size rims you guys think I should get for the front and rear and what size tires would be good on those rims. This car will be driven on the street but I would like the biggest rims+tires in the rear as possible and the smallest rims+tires in the front as possible. But still have the car be safe. I also have 4.10 gears so does that factor in on tire size?

Thanks,
Jimmy

Check out Summit Racing's site. They just came out with there own brand of Draglites, And they have Prostars in 4 lug which you can't get in 4 lug from Weld. 5 lug only.
I don't know if you have 4 or 5 lug. I remember when I was picking out wheels and the choices in 4 lug where pretty limited. I think it's pretty cool that Summit offers the Prostar in 4 lug and they are cheaper than Weld.
As far as size rims on a stock body, 15x8 on the rear will take as big as a tire as you can fit without tubbing out. 15x4 on front will work with skinnys but i wouldn't run them on the street if you drive alot. I have Nitto Drag Radials on the rear. My wheels are 16x8 Detroit Cobra-R's, Chrome, front and back. The Nitto's are 245/50R16 96V, 25.67 diameter, 9.8 width and they fit fine. I know alot of Mustang's run BFG drag radials 225/50R16 which is 26.1 diameter and 10.3 width and they fit also. I don't how much wider you can go than that. You should be able to go up in diameter to a 28". Just by looking at my car with the Nittos, it looks liike I could fit 28" diameter no problem.
Back spacing is really important. And bolt pattern. I e-mailed Weld once and I think they reccomended a 4.5 back spacing. on the rears.
Don't mix radials and normal biased tires. Contact Summit or Jegs and they have a good tech department and they can tell you just what will work. I ordered my wheels and tires from Jegs and had them mounted and balanced and it worked out great. UPS dropped them off and I just put them on myself.
Good Luck.

I use 15x10.5 for the rear and 15x5.5 for the front. weld draglites all around. check out my pictures. My car looks mean grabs really well with those wide tires. i used 3.5 for the fronts for a week but i thought they were mighty skinny and wouldnt be to safe for street driving. the 5.5 works alot better. hope that helps

What I ment was, 15x8 rim on the rear will take as big as a tire as you are going to fit under a stock wheel well without the tire sticking out and or rubbing. I don't know if you want to modify the body at all. You can get wider rims, 15x10's, but if someday you want to go to not quite as large as a tire ,you have the versatility of a 15x8, which works great with stock fox body mustangs. Check out Mickey Thompson, BFG, Nitto, The Tire Rack has all brands and what sizes will fit what rim. Discount Tire Direct also.
Good Luck

Hey x66error. I saw a Kenne Bell Supercharger in one of your engine pictures. Have you heard anything about the kenne bell on how good they are? I was looking at the basic one on their website. Can you use it with stock heads?

Hey 1970mustang . You have LX tail lights. When I bought my car it came with ero lights which I really don't like. If I picked up a LX light assembly at a junk yard , do they just pop in or did you have to modify anything?
Thanks!

Default You Wont Believe What Happened To Me Last Night

Last night my stang is at my friends house parked on the side of the road. im in the process of heping him with his mustang in the garage and i hear a loud ass boom. Im saying to myself that dude better not of just hit my car, so i go over to look at my car and he took out my REAR WELD DRAGLITE 15/10.5 It was completelly bent to the center. tire was slit open, Nitto 275 50 r15. As for my luck it had 3:73s, now i think my rear is bent and i will be needing basically everything from Rearend, shocks, struts, to rim and tire. I cant believe all this happened after i waited 5 months to get my car back on the road after i just dropped in my new motor. After all since i got the front end worked and running right now its time to replace everything for the rear, Hope this kids parents has money because its not gonna be cheap. Car goes back to Crazy Horse Performance tomorrow. Hopefully car wont be to long...

Angry

minor dent by the fender wall, some of his paint above my rear side skirt, my car is all primer so i mean its not a bother to me, just some primer spray paint as touch up i use. my rim is so destroyed though, i havent even gotten sleep last night because of this whole situation, kinda feels like a bad dream, especially after you wait to have the car for 5 months and the same day you get it back it gets sideswiped.my rims arent even broken in, only used for a week with new ******* street drag radials to. Im gonna make this kid buy me probablly a 9 inch rear with the best money can buy since im getting everything professionlly done at my mustang shop. I dont know if the frame is bent or not, i guess ill just have to wait for the estimates and info from the shop, ill keep you all posted since car will be going in around 9am.

Cool mustang

Ok so i finally have a good word on everything with my mustang, as you all know some dipshit hit my rear so my car has been off the road for about 3 weeks now.The insurance company came out and looked at the damage, they approved the damage for $2000.00. Luckily the insurance collector guy likes muscle cars and actually understood how i felt after i dropped in a new motor and put all my money into this car. SO with the $2000.00 im getting a new Rearend,Control arms, etc...Everything is gonna be aftermarket parts so im satisfied. Also getting some other things done, including My damn turn signals that NEVER WORKED, rewiring of my holley black pump with new fuel lines and some other minor crap. So if all goes well i should have the car back by next week, really hoping so because my birthday is sept 22nd so it would be nice to get the car back on my birthday, after all, I havent had it for 6 months...
